Act like the victors - not fight for victoryReader comment on item: Achieving Israel Victory with Martin Sherman Submitted by Eli E Cohen (France), May 15, 2017 at 17:31 I think the whole notion is mistaken. Not to ruffle any feathers here but most any Conflict is a result of pride, not practicality. Most non-Judeo-Christian societies cannot admit defeat because that would mean in their world annihalation. Since WW2, the Europeans have forged a union of cooperation. The Arab countries have have only deteriorated. Israel has never sought to annihilate the Arab population in its sphere and it would not be able to tolerate full victory unless forced into it by total agression. the Arabs (even states with peace treaties) continue their intolerance of Israel, a mindset that makes peace a near impossibility. The only real chance is not to forge a bloody victory but rather have the courage to force a coup - decide that Oslo has proven that a political accommodation is impossible and put in place a democratic, humae, liberal political framework that can work. Namely, Israel is already a 69 year old fact. It is not negotiable. Judea and Samaria will be an autonomous region with no central government - only central operations and strong local governments. Equal rights etc, to all citizens.Palestinian culture can be maintained as each citizen/region chooses. Political nationalistic aspirations will need to channelled into more productive activities. Sorry, but that could bring peace in 6 months. I prefer not to look at it as a victory but rather a practical, magnanimous gesture of reality for the sake of all inhabitants of this land.
