Can I vote in your elections?Reader comment on item: Achieving Israel Victory with Martin Sherman Submitted by Jeff (United States), May 23, 2017 at 21:28 Debanjan, you really think the residents of Gaza should vote in Israeli elections? Maybe I should be able to vote in Israeli elections, too. And Canadian elections. And Mexican elections. Or perhaps the government of Gaza should hold elections in Gaza. And perhaps president Abbas, currently enjoying the 13th year of his 4 year term, should hold elections in the west bank. Can't Palestinians have their own elections? They need to vote in someone else's instead? Why is that? Perhaps you should invite Palestinians to vote in Indian elections. Arab citizens of Israel vote in Israeli elections and serve in the Knesset, as they have for a long time. Israel thought giving Gaza to the Palestinians, after winning it fair and square in a war, would be an offer for peace that Palestinians could not refuse. What Palestinians could not refuse was firing thousands of rockets into Israel from rocket launchers set up in schools and hospitals. And celebrating dead Israeli children in the streets. And whining for a cease fire anytime Israel decided to fight back. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
