On the Issue of Palestinian Statehood & Martin ShermanReader comment on item: Achieving Israel Victory with Martin Sherman Submitted by Robert (United States), Oct 16, 2018 at 02:12 It seems to me that the difference you cite is highly theoretical, and therefore irrelevant. First of all - no one seems to note this - the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinian Arabs is a CIVIL WAR that has been waging since 1948. The consequence of this legal fact is similar that maintained by CHINA is relation to FORMOSA ... it is a matter of the INTERNAL AFFAIRS of Israel alone and therefore neither a Foreign Power, nor the United Nations, is Competent to Intervene. I'm surprised that no one, as far as I know, has argued that there is stilling being waged an inconclusive CIVIL WAR (1948-2018...) in Israel. Second, Israel has already granted Autonomy to (1) Gaza and (2) Portions of the West Bank, and the fact of the Political split between the two (2) entities, thanks to PROVIDENCE at least, postponed the issue of Sovereignty in Israel's favor ... perhaps forever. Furthermore, when Abbas Term of Office terminates De Facto (as it has already De Jure) these two (2) entities may drift even further apart (assuming that's even possible). Therefore, the question of Palestinian Statehood is unlikely ever to arise, or at least, not in the foreseeable future. And Israel needn't do anything to encourage the separation - the parties will do that all on their own. Third, the real issue I think is disposing of the RIGHT OF RETURN. That means at least Passports so that Palestinian "Refugees" can travel freely to live anywhere they wish outside of Israel or the Disputed Territories. It also means the possibility of building INDUSTRIAL PARKS in Jordan on the EAST BANK and in Egypt in the Sinai very near to Gaza. In addition, there should be two (2) CITIES build there to absorb ultimately every "homeless" Palestinian as a potential Urban Dweller, thereby hopefully acquiring a more Cosmopolitan Pan-Arab outlook. In brief, Victory requires a General. But Peace, or Pacification, requires an Urban Planner. I call for a call for a long over-due MARSHALL PLAN for the PALESTINIAN QUESTION. Europe got a Marshall Plan, why not one for the Displaced Palestinians who are also the victims of Anti-Semitism, particularly that of Europe's? Daniel Pipes replies: "the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinian Arabs is a CIVIL WAR that has been waging since 1948" I stopped reading here. First, it's anything but a civil war. Second, it began well before 1948. Reader comments (28) on this item
