islam is what islam doesReader comment on item: Islamophobia? Submitted by Ed (Canada), Nov 14, 2005 at 17:26 I don't care what it says in the koran, or the bible. You can argue the meanings and interpretations of these old texts til you are blue in the face. It is irrelevant. The world has had one or two great thinkers and philosophers. To paraphrase one, who is accepted by both christians and muslims, "By its fruits shall you know it". This means that what a philosophy engenders tells the truth of what it is. If a philosophical viewpoint leads to creativity, love and humanity, then that is what it is. If a philosophical viewpoint leads to decay, corruption, hate, fear and death, then that is the truth of what that philosophy is.We are produced by, and live upon the body of the only goddess who matters. Gaea is the only one we should be worshipping right now. The metaphorical mother earth, is who needs our care and attention. We waste her resources, and pollute her air and ground and seas, with the residue of bombs and guns. And because our attention is on the images in our minds eyes, and not on her, she will turn on us and our food will contain just a bit of each one of those bombs. Just a bit of that lead. Our air will contain just a bit more chemical pollutant, carbon dioxide than needs be. When she turns on us, we are done, over, gone. No ancient writings, no groveling in the dirt making obeisance, no decapitations, hand washing, contemplation beads, or ritualistic behavior is going to save us. We each get one chance at life, and to throw it away, for any purpose is the most appalling stupidity. As there is only one life we truly know about, then this is the one we need to live right. I do not need the koran, or bible to provide me with a basis for ethical and moral conduct. I am quite capable of working out that what is good for me, is good for others, and what is good for others is good for me. I am quite capable of loving my wife and children. I am quite capable of taking responsibility for my own morality. We have certain fundamental realities that we need to take care of before we can indulge in the luxury of philosophical debate about external potentialities, which we can know nothing about. We are not born free. We all have the need to breath, eat, defecate and sleep. We need other things like love as well, to enable us to thrive. We are each and every one of us, born tied to these necessities. We are born to the necessity to reproduce, so our sex drive is high. Our sex drives are so highly evolved that they transcend mere reproductive necessity, and we do it for pleasure as well. There is a clear connection between human sex drive, the size of our brains and our success thus far as a species. When people started to develop cults, they used mind control techniques to gain power over others, the sexual urges were among the first they tried to control. "It is wrong", "you must feel guilt", "you must control yourself", "take a cold shower". I believe that the islamic cult manipulates largely through sex and the fear of violent response. Normal sexuality is perverted by rules and regulations, which give one sex, dominance over another. This leads sex to be singled out and separated from love and affection. "go into your tilth as you will" - in a pigs eye. I don't rape my wife. I am only interested in sex with someone who wants me to be there. In addition to this, islam also provides a "complete way of life". When to wash, when to pray. How to relate to others, when to lie, when to be truthful. Who can be friends, who can't. What to eat, what you can't drink. This is for people who can't, or do not wish to think for themselves. I am not one of those. I resent the idea that I should be a kafr, a dhimmi or any of the other stupid terms that islam keeps in it portfolio of insults for a free man. If this allah chappie, or any other god is more than a figment of human imagination and need, then islam commits the worst sin possible. Islam sets out with deliberate intent to make each adherent less than the potential their creator gave them to be. To some extent, some christain sects have also done this. They set about with intent to put stumbling blocks in peoples thinking, making the construction of logic and the drawing of conclusions difficult, if not impossible. If you believe that you are going to lose your soul if certain thoughts enter you head, you are going to react by attempting to block those thoughts. If you believe that everyone around you believes something, and will kill you if you don't, you are going to react by behaving just like them. How do I know what islam is? By what it has produced. By what its adherents do. It has produced a world wide terror movement. It has produced generations of young men who gang rape young girls. It has produced enclaves of people, living off the generosity of others. I don't care that you say these are not typical, not good muslims, or that the Colorado bomber was christian. Since muslims have moved into the several countries I hold dear, the societies have deteriorated. Where once the streets were safe at night, they no longer are. These are the fruits, and this is what islam is. In one Islamic country I have lived in, the rivers ran red with the blood of thousands of slain kaffirs. In another the severed heads of christians were stuck on poles and oil barrels outside the villages. Muslim dominated countries impose the most ridiculous rules on people. One such country, with which I am much acquainted, has a law requiring all civil servants, including non-muslims to attend Friday prayer meetings. I don't want to be told when and how to pray by islam or anyone else. If I need to pray, I can do it anywhere, any time I like. My prayers are between my own conscience and my own interpretation of the deity. I will tell you something, the deity of islamic imagination is much smaller than the creator of my universe. You can tell the size of a god, by the attributes it is ascribed. The attributes of the islamic deity are described really well in the koran, and by some of the poor deluded, mind controlled muslims, who post here and other sites. They describe a spiteful, mean minded, insecure, depraved, and sometime paranoid entity, that has created humans, so it can make them suffer. But then it seems to resemble the man who invented the cult. I was personally acquainted with a young woman, struck down and murdered at 24, in the prime of her life. She was bright and beautiful. She was murdered by her relatives. These muslims called it "honor killing". Why? Because she was my friend! Not lover, not girlfriend, just friend. Islam is what islam does. It causes people to strike down the innocent. So, I don't care who mohamad was...that he had the virility of thirty men, or whether he was a prophet. I don't care what he wrote, or what was written about him. I care only about what his cult is doing. If you want me to believe that islam is the true religion, the religion of peace, or for that matter a religion at all, then prove it. Remove the violence from the teachings, stop the rapes, the mind control, the terrorists and the murderers. Each person is individually and personally responsible for the choices they make and the things that they do. There is no excuse in saying, "an old book made me do it" or "this is what my priest/shaman/imam/mullah says to do". Ultimately, it is very simple. If individuals are not out there doing it, it is not being done. My interpretation of fundamental reality allows me to live in peace and harmony with all others who allow me to live in peace and harmony. My creator did not make me to submit and I do not have a phobia. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
