I just had to respond this nighmare... Helen get some tutoring!!!!Reader comment on item: Why Shariah Must Be Opposed Submitted by Rikki (United States), Aug 27, 2009 at 00:28 I usually don't post comments, but this one was SCREAMING at me. Firstly beheading is not allowed in Islam. Just because you may have seen a muslim beaheading in iraq or arghanistan this does not mean it is from islam. How many beheadings do you see in Western states? It's actually a noteworthy thing that you can watch things like that online with Muslims being proud of what they're doing. And no, I do know that those are Islamic radicals; it's not all of Islam. But really; anyone watch a Christian beheading on youtube lately? Just as fornication is not from christianity but many christians do actually participate. Actually, adultery, is listed in the ten commandments, but murder is a more serious sin. By the way, you you mean to say that Muslims don't commit adultery at all? I think that they do just as much, but men get away with it, because women would risk their lives to accuse them. Beheading is murder, plain and simple. So, you can just stick that non-argument you made where the sun doesn't shine. The reason in a court of law that a woman witness is only worth half on a man is that women are viewed as much more sensitive emotional beings, and this could get in the way of the actual facts. I'm a woman; I'm also a widow, who has lived through enormous tragedy and survived. Most men around me say that they never would have had the emotional strength I have shown with grace and dignity. And yes, I did adhere to full-fledged mourning, and I am very young to be a widow. So, the whole argument that women are more sensitive and cannot figure out actual facts and act upon them is a bunch of you know what. Hell will freeze over before I have a man tell me that my testimony isn't worth the same as the testimony of a man. I would never let a man tell me what to do or even worse, a government of self-proclaimed male dictators tell me how to dress, work, learn, or do anything. If you buy into that paradise of life you've been told to be reality, go ahead, but do not take my freedom away from me, which at the heart of the matter is exactly what Islam is trying to do. What you say about the rape issue is completely incorrect, i think that you must view the punishment systems in saudi and from the taliban as sharia and this is just not the case at all. Tell us what the reality is then, because obviously you know more than we, all the women who have gone through those punishments, and all the people who have actually done credible research on this issue combined. I dont understand why if you do not commit any crimes you would be scared of sharia? Because it makes me abide by a religion I am not part of and establishes a legal system that runs in complete opposition to human rights. There are literelly hundreds of people every day in the west reverting to islam, male and female, and this is certainly not by the sword! Honestly, I do believe many of those numbers are overestimates by the biased news casts you are watching! However, that's their choice. My choice is to stay what I am--Christian. I don't tell them to become Christian, so why do you think it's yours to tell me to become Muslim? Afghanistan does not have any oil reserves that is correct but are you not aware of the gas pipeline that needs to be run through afghanistan? A deal that was actually brokered by america with the taliban just before the 2001 invasion? With regards to 3 wives...1400 years ago there was no council houses, income support or tax credits for the widows or single mothers (and we all no that there are plenty of single mothers in the west, mainly who dont actually know who the father of their baby is!) This is really where you are blowing it: you could have denied up and down that you are actually not a woman in complete denial about Sharia law and made your argument more credible (not really, but you had wiggle room). You are throwing all of Western civilization and people you do not know anything about in one pot and boil them. I have children; I've always supported them on my own; and I do take great pride in not riding on anyone's coattails; and that's why I should be allowed to live my life the way I want, not the way Islam wants! That's why people don't want Sharia law, OK??? The only way that women could get money for their children is by begging or prostitution. The prophet muhammed did have more than one wife but only after his first wife khadija(who he was married to for 24years passed away). The women he did actually marry were not young attractive beautiful women, they were older women with many children in tow. He simply did this for the reward as these women were now safe. Hail Mary for Mary Wollstonecraft and her Women's Rights Movement in 19th century Britain!!! Muslim women really haven't helped the effort in making work and education something possible for women!!! Why is that? Oh, that's right, we're not as worthy as men; therefore, our word doesn't count for as much. Nowhere in islam doe sit say women cant drive, please prove this to me, this is just another saudi culture issue not taken from islam. With regards to women being covered when they leave the home... do you ever see women raping men? Actually it has happened, and rape doesn't necessarily mean intercourse, and there have been cases of other forms of rape perpetrated by women. Women are actually the stronger sex in that we don't feel the urge so quickly, so that should give men in Islam to think on that whole issue of not thinking factual. If you took a set of twins and dressed one in a little mini shirt and low cut top and the other covered modestly, and sent them down the street where there were men, who do you think would get all the perverted sexual remarks? Since men are the stronger sex, which is not emotionally challenged like women according to your own remarks, I'd say girls need to know how to answer back to indecent proposals, and men need to keep their equipment in check. Your argument is not adding up anywhere. Read some Aristotle, will you? I know he's Western, but actually, he's a really smart guy. By the way, rape is not a sexual crime, it's a crime of power; something you tend to give your men a lot of. Women have a right to dress appropriately for the weather, and I doubt that long black coats and other outfits that result in a lot of heat in very warm climates are health-appropriate. I do not wear short skirts or low cut tops, I am a professional and abide by a dress code, but I think it's my right to wear what the weather will allow when it's 90 degrees outside (other countries where Sharia law is enforced are much, much hotter!!!). In addition, my late husband always liked to show off what a beautiful woman his wife was; what makes your men so scared to share that beauty? PS: Really, Helen, honey, learn how to speak English. Word order, grammar issues, you don't even know how to form an argument, get some tutoring!!! It's almost as if you were drunk and writing and just trying to be a pain. Is that even allowed by Sharia law? Drunkeness in women? Submitting....
