The civilized and the barbarianReader comment on item: Developments in Syria and Turkey Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Jun 29, 2013 at 09:49 Mozere wrote They did not understand the sophistication of these civilisations. They accused them of worshipping idols, yet they adopted the epics of Sumerian Gilgamish and the laws of Babylonian Hamurabi and Egyptian folklore and regurgitated them as god given holy stories And this is indeed what you expect to have happened for example in the case of let us say Syria you would have expected to see those Arab invaders becoming Syriac speakers and converting to all Syriac forms of Christianity and becoming Syrians and not Arabs The only way to explain the outcome of the Arab invasions is that let us say in the case of Syria a new religion (what was to become Islam) was still being figured, out not by the Arab invaders who were very busy looting and would have cared less about reading the books of the civilized or understand the very sophisticated Syrian culture of the late antique period. And this new religion was adopted by the Arab polity for reasons we still do not understand but once Islam was adopted by the Arabs their language became not just the language of revelation but also the secular language This very well explains what happened but this means that the Islamic historical tradition is the biggest fraud in the history of man/woman/kind
