The Islamist waveReader comment on item: Islamism's Trajectory Submitted by Lorenz Gude (Australia), May 25, 2014 at 03:00 I have felt strongly since 9/11 that Islamism in the late 20th and early 21th century was somehow related to the wave of totalitarianism that swept through the West in the first half of the 20th century. So I too have some hope that it will moderate, but agree it is a very small hope and one with which we shoud not delude ourselves. The outcome very much hangs in the balance with the West largely paralyzed by post colonial political correctness and the Islamic world more focused on their internal sectarian differences than single mindedly defeating the West. One thing seems pretty clear. Islamists will continue to attack until they either subjugate us or we recognize that they must be dealt with decisevly. Given recent events in China the Islamists appear to think they can intimidate anyone and everyone, which I think indicates thier imbalance and lack of judgement.
