Democracy in Islamic countries only if...Reader comment on item: Islamism's Trajectory Submitted by Alexandros (United Kingdom), May 28, 2014 at 19:55 Every citizen of an Islamic country has the same rights, opportunities and social and public treatment regardless his or her religion, regardless sex regardless any other unique characteristic of his or her personality, if everyone had the freedom to express his opinions and thoughts, if every citizen has the right to elect and be elected in free elections. If we try to put a grade using a scale of a hundred in the western societies for the above, then as far as the principles we would have to give a grade between 90 and 95, because most of them are legally established and a grade between 75 to 85 for the enforcement of the above principles. If we do the same for the Islamic world then there is no grade above 30. The main reason for this is the Islamic law and if the people will not decide to separate the islamic law from the state, then democracy can never happen. This means that the western societies can't actually count on an Islamic reform and must deal in an another way with the Islamic imperialism
