After allReader comment on item: How Islamic Are Muslims? Submitted by josef zuares (France), Jul 28, 2014 at 17:30 Dr Pipes, it seems that maybe,I say maybe you have finally arrived at the real issue. In your previous articles you stand strong on your assertion that our problem is not Islam, but radical Islam. Do I hear a slight change in your voice? Do I hear some veiled disappointment in the sad realization that maybe the enemy is more numerous than we thought ? I enjoy your articles and appreciate your knowledge, but could never agree that radical Islam is so damn different than Islam itself.I myself have struggled for many years on this question, wanting to hope to find a magical solution to this problem.I finally realized that our problem with Islamism is that we have fallen in the trap set by Islam Itself:we wanted to believe that Islam wants peace, and it does, unfortunately only for its adepts, all others are just DAAR AL HARB,which you know it means not peace at all,but war;War to all that fail to surrender to Islam. But Islam has not brought peace nowhere, not even in DAAR ASSALAM,and I find pleasure in thinking that the name was finally coined not by Arabs but by Jews because in Hebrew the negative of an attribute can be achieved by adding an" I" to the word,so I-SLAM was the negation of the Hebrew SHALOM. I-S(H)AL(O)AM is what we get from this ideology,a negation of peace,in other words,WAR and struggle.May G-d bless you for your hard work in trying to bring light into this world.Shalom Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. My main argument is that Muslims need urgently to reform their religion - e.g., jihad and the treatment of women - to pull themselves out of the morass in which so many find themselves today. It can happen, it must happen. Reader comments (48) on this item
