Muslim NZ?

Hi Daniel, it seems that with academics one can make anything credible, well almost. I thought this article a spoof at first but now I feel annoyed that NZ is held up to be a Muslim country. The fact of the matter is it is because of our secular democratic society with adherence to UN Human rights and solid laws with separation of church and state that we seem to have a desirable country in which to reside.

I was sitting at a meal in a church celebrating the end of Ramadan last year. On my left was an Iranian Muslim lady who said that what was needed was religion to be kept out of politics. (She was very interested in Christian things) On my right was a Christian who had spent some time smuggling Bibles into Iran.!! An interesting time.

We have had one Mosque closed because of Salafist unrest and disturbance including an attack on the care taker. We have had one NZ suspected jihadist killed overseas and another jihadist Nz er communicate from overseas advertising his dedication.

I can assure you that NZ is not the best country in the world because of the application of Islamic teaching!! We do not have Sharia law at all.

Perhaps a look at the countries applying Sharia diligently would be a good study. In Islamic theory that surely should be the sole criteria of adherence to true Islam.?? I believe the results of such an evaluation would be salutary.
