I expect Israel to defeat a massive Turko-Iranian Islamist attack, stopping the mouths of the Islamists.Reader comment on item: Is Radical Islam in Decline? Submitted by Michael S (United States), Oct 5, 2016 at 04:29 Good point, George -- and remember also the Palestinians rising up against King Hussein in Jordan in 1970. Up until the 1967 war, the Arab vs. Israel struggle took the form of neghboring states, Egypt and Syria, etc. attacking Israel. At first, the Arabs were supported by the Western powers (viz. the British officers of Jordan's Arab League. The Soviets secretly supported Israel.) Then the US parted with France and the UK in 1956, joining the USSR in coming against Israel. The whole fight, on the Israeli side as well as Arab, was about nationalism and anticolonialism. After 1967, the conflict increasingly centered around religion, with the Muslim Brotherhood being the main player. Many theories and proposals have arisen and died about the Middle East over the years. 1967 marked the beginning of the "peace process". Landmarks along the way were Sadat's treacherous attack on Israel in 1973, which ultimately won him the Nobel Prize. Then came the Lebanon War, which drove Arafat and his criminals into exile in Tunisia. Israel then invited him and his to come live in Israel, in a crowning achievement of stupidity. The Oslo Accords sealed the deal, which was supposed to bring enduring peace. Instead, Arafat (now also a Nobel laureate) began a war within Israel, blowing up innocent civilians in restaurants and on buses. He was rewarded by numerous red-carpet invitations to the White House. I don't think the "muslims themselves" are even involved in this process anymore. It's all been taken over by the Wahhabi fanatics and international interventionists. Most of the "muslims", the ordinary people, have become victims of the Islamists. I expect Islamist Turkey and Islamist Iran to launch a joint attack on Israel, once they have settled their disagreement between each other in Syria. I expect Israel to defeat them, soundly; and I expect this to shut the mouths of the Islamists.
