"USS Oz" :-)
I like the way you put that, and it's true. Darwin is our most secure and reliable base in the West Pacific, until some idiot US President like Obama or Hillary messes things up so much that we get kicked out. I don't think Trump is that stupid, though who knows?
Concerning Duterte, China, etc., they're jockeying for position in the diplomatic uncertainty we live in under the mad Obama. I don't know who will win the US election, nor what will happen as a result. At the moment, it looks as though Hillary has an insurmountable electoral lead; but surprizes can happen.
