An Historic Moment

which may mark a turning point in US-Turkish relations. Perhaps it will not, but I saved it anyway.

The Kurds of Iraq are scheduled to have a referendum tomorrow on independence; and Turkey, along with the US, Iraq, Syria, Russia and Iran have put pressure on the Kurds to call it off. I would have expected the Trump Administration to remain neutral in the matter; but instead, Mr. Trump's men have yet again sided with Erdogan against a people who have been generally friendly to the US. This may rank with our escalation of the War in Vietnam in 1964, as one of the more foolish moments in US foreign policy.

Israel, thankfully, stands with the Kurds on this matter and against Erdogan and Turkey. The Kurds will be good allies to Israel, when the Turks stab Israel and the US in the back, join with the evil Iranians, and attack Israel. Today, at least one American, Daniel Pipes, is on record as having stood up to the megalomaniacal ambitions of Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In light of what will surely soon come to pass, this is a moment worth remembering.
