However, I think currently Putin's cold war mentality is clouding his view of what is in Russia and his best interests. His actions in helping the Iranians seem almost bizarre to me, and other than irritating the US, what does that do for Putin. Putin is smart enough to know that the Iranians would very happily cut his throat or nuc a few Russian cities, if they got the weapons. When I see his actions, I remember the parable of the frog and the scorpion. I wonder if Putin will wake up about the intentions of the Iranian Mullahs, before he is in too deep and finds he can not out swim the current.
