Judeo-Christian or just Christian?Reader comment on item: Hungary: Not "Submitting to Islam" Submitted by Judi (Australia), Aug 15, 2018 at 00:43 I believe it matters because it distorts the truth, enabling 'Corbyns', 'Ahmenidjans', 'Erdoğans' and their ilk to teach a distorted history. If Orban had referred to 'western values' I would have no objection. But as Daniel wrote, Orban is a masterchess player (politically). Orban chooses his words and frames them very carefully. While many Hungarians were assisted (my father having been picked up by a schoolmate and hidden) many were not- as the shoes on the Danube indicate. In this context, the percentages are moderately irrelevant. What matters is that many young people have little understanding of the 'Judeo' contribution and many of their elders would be happy for the perspective on Jews to be forgotten or unpleasant.
