Christian foundationsReader comment on item: Hungary: Not "Submitting to Islam" Submitted by Barbaric Pagan (United States), Aug 25, 2018 at 15:59 Broadly agree with the sentiments. However the "Christian foundations" notion is unfortunately a backward step albeit a smaller one than the Islamic alternative. The West's greatness rests on a solid foundation of science secularism, reason and the like and not Christianity. Christianity was an accident which had no positive role to play in all of the incredible achievements of mankind that have emanated from Western societies. The better alternative is to lean anti religion and be more secular. Many secular and tolerant values have also emanated from the West and it needs to be celebrated more than the dubious Christian values being pedaled by right wing politicians in Europe.
