Christian views of Old TestamentReader comment on item: Hungary: Not "Submitting to Islam" Submitted by Raul Marks (United States), Aug 17, 2018 at 18:33 The OT has laid out 613 commandments, how many of those does Christian teaching honor? I don't know but they honor a lot less than Islam. In fact the Quran and the Old Testament are nearly identical in content (eg the story of Moses) as well as tone (the nature of God, the nature of laws concerning ritual purity/menstruation/etc, laws regarding adultery, commerce, etc). The New Testament is a radical departure from the Old Testament. So much so that Christianity is considered a religion separate from Judaism. In fact, if one thought of Islam as a sect within Judaism, it could not be considered an unreasonable assumption. The fundementals of faith and law cannot be dimissed as "beyond the point". In fact, Maimonides' principles of faith are almost identical to that of Islam's, and very divergent from Christianity.
