Calling out Ilhan Omar's hypocrisyReader comment on item: Hungary: Not "Submitting to Islam" Submitted by Prashant, Jan 5, 2019 at 01:36 Dear Dr Pipes, Ilhan Omar is one of the first two Muslim woman Congressman elected to the US Congress. Ms Omar is of Somalian origin and she took her oath on the Quran. She wears a hijab and so I would not doubt her commitment to Islam. I do not know what sort of relationship she has with her country of origin but I have never heard her criticizing any of the Somalian policy, politics or culture. I will like to remind her that as a member of the US Congress she will be representing one of the most august democratic institutions in the world. I will also like to remind her that principles of democracy are routinely violated in the name of Islam. I will reproduce the second article of the Somali constitution below for the benefit of Ms Omar: ARTICLE 2 OF SOMALI CONSTITUTION: Article 2. State and Religion (1) Islam is the religion of the State. I will like Ms Omar to know that her country of origin with the blessings of her religion prohibits people's right to think and speak freely. I request Ms Omar to speak up against non-separation of church and state in Islam as soon as she can.
