Ilhan's appointment to the house foreign affairs committeeReader comment on item: Hungary: Not "Submitting to Islam" Submitted by Prashant (United States), Jan 20, 2019 at 15:56 Dear Dr Pipes, I was deeply disappointed that Nancy Pelosi appointed Ilhan Omar to the house's foreign affairs committee. Ms Omar is a known opponent of Israel the only democracy in the middle east. Her famous tweet in which she exhorted Allah "to awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel" is still in my mind. I do not know what definition of evil that Pelosi and Omar subscribe to but for me evil is when hundreds of million people get involved in wars among themselves and with every one else and when they do not even try to discover a path to peaceful living that supports live-and-let-live. Peace in (the so called Palestine) can come within ten seconds if they drop the Islamic agenda and vow to create a free, secular and democratic nation inside or outside Israel. I think Omar is on the evil side and thoroughly does not deserve to represent our democratic freedom-loving nation before the world. Through your blog, I want to inform Ms Pelosi and Ms Omar that I am a firm admirer of Israel due to her democratic traditions, intelligent military (I have been friends with many ex-IDF people) and her contributions to the sciences and technology around the world. I look forward to the day when I will visit Israel and I do not wish or care to visit Islamic theocracies that do not give freedom to people to think. I will ask Omar to make sure that freedom of thought and love for democracy permeates into Islamic societies around the world even though I am positive that she does not care for democracy nor freedom.
