wrongReader comment on item: Muslim-Controlled Governments Subsidize Conversions of Kafirs Submitted by Abdul Rahman Reijerink (Australia), Jul 6, 2006 at 05:47 dhimmi no more Kaffir is the word for farmer... one who covers the seed with soil, so the use of this word in a religious context IS a metaphor. A Kaffir then IS someone who covers up the truth. If this is the original meaning of Kaffir, explain how the metaphor is wrong. please, enlighten me some more. Hamza Yusuf studied in the Arab world and North Africa, not Pakistan and also holds this view as well as many other scholars with roots (excuse the farming pun) in non-Indo/Pak lands. What does the ethnicity of the people you have heard this from have to do with anything anyway? Is their Islam less vaild because they are not arabs? Yes those scholars do say what you record, but do they alone get to define Islam? They hold minority opinions, just because you can find it in a book does not mean that it representative. Much translated work is now dominated by the wealthy Wahhabis, they translate what they agree with and edit or hide what they don't. It is not enough to assert that Kaffir means non-muslim, you must prove it. The Qur'an clearly states that anyone who believes in God and does good deeds while believing in the Day of Judgement has no need for grief.... this includes non-muslims, yet Kuffar are people destined for Hell, explain that to me.
