Ishmael and IsaacReader comment on item: Obama Wins, Muslims Divided Submitted by sTs (United Arab Emirates), Nov 24, 2008 at 06:23 The Bible is not correct, we know the story of the sacrifice and it is written in the Quran, but we also know that the first born was Ishmael Abraham's only son then. We have here two versions of the same verse which you have displayed, which one should we be believe the one that calls Ishmael a donkey? - A much respected prophet of God you call a donkey? - Shame on all of you who follow a very corrupt book. Genesis 16:12 And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren. Gen 16:11 You are going to have a son, and you will name him Ishmael, because the LORD has heard your cry of distress. But your son will live like a wild donkey; he will be against everyone, and everyone will be against him. He will live apart from all his relatives. I feel from your words that the Christians do not have any respect for Hagar or Ishmael the son of a great prophet. - Also what do you say when the bible says that God will make of him a great nation - is he a prophet of God or is he not? what do Christians believe? - So is he a donkey or a great prophet - righteous man What was the age of Ishmael when Isaac was born, are they peers of same age - Ishmael was 14 years when Isaac was born - there is a difference of 14 years between them. Imagine you are 14 years older than your brother, what common things would there be between you and your brother, let us support Isaac was 3 years old, what would be the age of Ishmael? - (17) that is right so a 17 years old man is playing with a 3 years old baby - what do you make of it???? - do you still believe in the story in the bible???? So Ishmael was 17 years old when Sarah asked Abraham to send Ishmael and his mother away.... I don't buy it, that Sarah that great woman; the wife of the great prophet of God would really look at such trivial thing to ask Abraham to banish both of them and for what? playing with a baby - SHE IS NOT A MEAN WOMAN, is she? You are portraying Sarah as a mean woman, but she is not, and she did not command Abraham to do such mean thing, What was the fault of Hagar to be banished? So you don't believe that Ishmael is the son of Abraham and that God promised to make a great nation out of him..... It is written in the bible that God promised a great nation out of Ishmael, does God promise to make a sinister nation? is that what God said? God was comforting Abraham because He has taken away his son to a far land (Mecca), it does make a father very upset and very sad and don't want to lose a son out of his sight. you are far a way from logic and truth Moriah, - There are many authors who THINK that It is located in Jerusalem, in the bible it is mentioned the land of Moriah - and we know when you talk about a large area you say land, so where is it because sometimes they say it is mount Moriah - well are they the same Land and mountain? - Do you know that there is a mountain in Mecca called Marwah Don't you think that the pronunciation are very near? Moriah and Marwah you know why - because the bible originally said that take your lad to mount Marwah in Mecca and the Jews changed it to Moriah in Jerusalem They did not know that there was a mountain called Marwah in Hijaz, the transportation and communication system was poor those days. But God ordered Abraham to take his first born, his only son Ishmael to Marwah with his Mother Hagar, Why ???? - To make a great nation out of his descendents - Not because Sarah told to do so. Do you know he will be wild? - because he was baby not weaned, he grew up in the prairies and desert, in Mecca, that is he is a wild man. but He was a great prophet of God, means he had manners, holy manners, like Isaac had and all prophets. I said before in another comment, that both brothers were best of pals, and Sarah and Hagar were best of pals. Now we come to the verses Gen 21:14 Early the next morning Abraham gave Hagar some food and a leather bag full of water. He put the child on her back and sent her away. Gen 21:20 GOD was with the boy as he grew up; he lived in the wilderness of Paran and became a skillful hunter. How old was Ishmael - 17 years - was he a lad or boy? He was 17 years MAN, he was already grown up according to the bible - (It does not mean I believe what is written in the bible is correct) - just to show you the wrong logic in the bible. Iskandar the great was 14 years when he led his first army We Believe that Ishmael was a baby not yet weaned when Abraham took him and his mother Hagar to Mecca (Abraham went with them there), was a very small baby boy and he grew up with the pagans in Arabia in Mecca as in Gen 21:20.
