Absolute Blasphemy!Reader comment on item: Is Allah God? Submitted by Leonard Viola (United States), Jun 29, 2005 at 14:30 Hi Daniel,I have read and enjoyed quite a number of your articles, on the internet. However I have taken considerable offense at your article, "Is Allah God." I hope that you will consider my evidence that demonstrates the shortcomings of your assertions, inferences and logic, and that they will prove both instructive and beneficial. Although there is considerable fallacy in your assertion that saying you worship the God of Abraham makes it so, rather than potentially perverting the nature of Abraham's God, I will not address it. Nor will I endeavor to illustrate how the Quran itself demonstrates the abhorence of both Jews and Christians. I will, however, illustrate how Scripture very clearly demonstrates that Islam is not simply incompatible with Christianity, it is antichrist! One reader took the liberty of pointing out that you had ignored John 1:1. Make no mistake, none of the apostles waffled on the identity of Jesus Christ, and none of them taught that He was simply a misguided teacher! Nor did Jesus, and neither do His followers, past, present, or future. Perhaps you might also apologize to your Christian readers for blaspheming their God and to the ignorant for MISLEADING them. Here's John the Baptist's testimony from John chapter 3 (speaking of Jesus Christ, the Messiah): "He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: He that cometh from heaven is above all. And what He hath seen and heard, that He testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony. He that hath received His testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. (34) For He Whom God hath sent speaketh the Words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto Him. The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into His hand. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." John 3:31-36 You will of course note that John the Baptist claimed the Jesus Christ spoke the "Words of God." (vs34). How does this fit with the suggestion that Jesus Christ was simply a prophet who distorted God's Word? Jesus Himself taught: "Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day: and he saw it, and was glad. Then said the Jews unto Him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I Am." John 8:56-58 If you are at all familiar with Exodus, then you must surely realize that Jesus was, without question, proclaiming His deity, not simply suggesting He was a "misguided prophet"! ( see also John 5:19-23, John 7:16-18, John 8:36-40, John 12:48-50 ) "For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the Name of the only begotten Son of God." John 3:17-18 "For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent Him." John 5:22-23 Just how is it that Islam honors the Son even as they honor His Father - except it be to blaspheme the Name and character of both? Or, for that matter, how does your article demonstrate any more heretical character than Islam? (Are you a Muslim, Mr. Pipes??) John additionally made it clear for the Gnostics and the intellectually and spiritually challenged in his first epistle: "That Which was from the beginning, Which we have heard, Which we have seen with our eyes, Which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of Life; (For the Life was manifested, and we have seen It, and bear witness, and shew unto you that Eternal Life, Which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)" 1 John 1:1-2 Please note that while John was perfectly acquainted with Jesus incarnation, he asserts that Jesus Christ was from the beginning - please also not that is not to suggest that Jesus Christ was created, but rather that it is to be understood in the context of the first verse of John's Gospel (In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.) and also Colossians 1:15-19. "Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father." John 2:22-24 Please note that while some might misappropriate this passage using only verses 22 and 23, verse 24 clarifies the significance of the two proceeding verses, and reaffirms the Deity of Jesus Christ! So here, the apostle John calls Muhammad, Muslims, Islam and you liars! "If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which He hath testified of His Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made Him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of His Son." John 5:9-10 ! And finally, John so aptly concludes his first epistle with this yet another blow to Gnosticism and antichrist heresies: "And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is True, and we are in Him that is True, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the True God, and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen." 1 John 5:20-21 Sincerely, Len Viola
