Since Israel controls Jerusalem, no country can open an embassy there without Israel's approval

The question then becomes whether a left-wing administration will want to go head to head with Israel over such a move. It's possible, but unlikely. More likely is that a left-wing administration will invite continue where Obama left off and invite security council resolutions against Israel and recognize "Palestine", without this having anything to do with the current administration's support for Israel.
