In the long run

Dr. Pipes - asking as an outsider with only a superficial understanding of the conflict - what is the reason Palestinians cannot be resettled in other Arab countries in the region? Clearly the blockade in Gaza creates severe constraints on Palestinians so why not resettle people in other countries in the region where they can live peacefully (hopefully) and have freedom to move around. Israel will surely make good use of Gaza and West Bank after its emptied given its dynamic economy. The key objective is to end human suffering on the Palestinian side. Another variation could be to let Gaza and West Bank be absorbed into an administered by Egypt and Jordan respectively since both countries are not at war with Israel.
The current status quo seems designed to inflict maximum pain on both Israel and Palestinians indefinitely. Not sure why the world accepts this state of things and worse, doesn't even try to do better.
