Who are the "great" philosophers?Reader comment on item: Conservatism's Hidden History Submitted by Michael S (United States), Sep 5, 2018 at 17:05 Hi, Robert Most of what you say is too loaded to respond to. I got a chuckle, though, out of what you said about adultery: "The prohibition against Adultery wasn't that hard to obey - it only required a Man to keep his hands Another Neighbor Man's Wife. So if the Man wasn't your neighbor,it was OK." Concerning stoning the woman caught in adultery, Bob Dylan famously sang. "EVERYBODY must get stoned!" In this, he agreed with the scripture ("Let him who is without sin cast the first stone"). I can only guess at who the "Six Great Philosophers of Western Civilization" are. I would count Job, David, Solomon, Jesus, Shakespeare and Ben Franklin, beside my own family. I know nothing of the others, save for an occasional "cryptoquote" in the funnies section. YOU might think the others are "great"; and perhaps they have influenced your life; but this member of Western Civilization is relatively unscathed by them.
