The Six Philosophers: Descartes, Spinoza, Leibniz, Locke, Berkeley, HumeReader comment on item: Conservatism's Hidden History Submitted by Robert (United States), Sep 5, 2018 at 21:10 Hi, Michael S., Please show some respect - if not for me, than for this Web Page. I don't think this is the place for you to post your favorite philosophers, or tell us how much you respect your parents (I'm lucky, in having honored my parents to the very end of their days as is required by The 10 Commandments). If you go to any American College or University worthy of its name, and decide to study Modern Philosophy, you will be required to take courses in the Six Modern Philosophers (3 Rationalists and 3 Empiricists), namely: (1) Descartes, (2) Spinoza, (3) Leibniz, (4) Locke, (5) Berkeley, & (6) Hume. Now LIBERAL Gore Vidal wasn't so lucky. His mother was an alcoholic, and divorced his father, and was horrible to him. His father, a great Olympic athlete he apparently respected. Nevertheless, in one of his biographical presentations, he seems to have something in her defense. His mother was extremely intimate with him. One day she told him how she and his father were riding to their wedding, and he told her he had something to tell. She was very excited, believing, she thought, that he would finally say how much he loved her. But instead he told her that he had 3 balls. From this, I imagine that you are about to conclude that Liberals, like Vidal, do not honor their parents, as required by the Bible. By the way, did I tell you this already? It was eventually suspected that Vidal was a Homosexual. So in one of the interviews an American journalist surprised him by asking him if his 1st sexual encounter was heterosexual or homosexual? His answer: "I was too polite to ask."
