Refuting the lie that the Qur'an says that the earth is not flat and it is created like an ostrich egg!Reader comment on item: Jerusalem, Jordan, and the Jews Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Jul 6, 2020 at 11:42 Dr. Pipes, Here is another example of big lies, or may be ingorance, by Muslim apologists mostly from India and Pakistan. I urge readers to google "Qur'an says earth is like an ostrich egg." Many posters claim that the source of this lie is Zakir Naik the Indian preacher, but I have not been able to confirm it. So this is from an old post of mine and I reedited it: Qur'an 79:30 says: والارض بعد ذلك دحاها Transliterated as: Wa al-Ard Ba'da dhalika dahaaha This can be rendered as: And the earth after this he (Allah) made it FLAT This is very clear that the Qur'an says that the earth if FLAT! Let is see what Tafsir al-Jalalyain tells us about Q79:30 والارض بعد ذلك دحاها بسطها وكانت مخلوقة قبل السماء من غير دحو Or: And the earth after this was made flat (dahaha) Basataha (made it flat) and it (the earth) was created before the sky without dahw (being flat) It is in black and white and not a single word about an ostrich or her eggs And here is the link to al-Jalalyain so you do not tell me that I'm making things up http://www.quran-for-all.com/t-79-2-30.html Now here is what it says in Liasn al-Arab about the word Dahaha دحا الله الارض: بسطها ومدها Or Daha Allah the earth means he made it flat and did spread it And here is the link http://www.maajim.com/dictionary/%D8%AF%D8%AD%D8%A7 I do not see anything here about an ostrich or its egg but wait if you read Lisan al-Arab dictionary here is where the egg of an ostrich fits و مَدْحَى النعام : موضع بيضها And here Ibn Manzur tells us that the word Dahaha or he made it flat is as follows Madha (or the area made flat) by the ostrich is the place where the ostrich lays her eggs. He is therefore, confirming that the word Dahhaha means: made it FLAT And this is what really happened: Some ignorant non Arabic speaking Muslim might have stumbled and read Ibn Manzur's Lisan al-Arab and the word Dahaaha and found the "ostrich egg" and came to the bizarre conclusion that the word Dahaaha means "ostrich's egg" when in actual fact Ibn Manzur is saying the word Dahaaha is derived from the word Madah al-Na'am or the area that an ostrich will make it flat so the ostrich can lay her eggs! No sane Arab would utter this nonsense unless he/she is a liar or he cannot read Arabic texts I realize that it is very difficult to refute a lie but I urge any reader who comes across any Muslim that claims the the Qur'an says that the earth is like an ostrich egg, he/she should be told that this is a big fat lie Submitting....
