M Tovy, Addendum: Islam and the OTHER: Ali Dashti, the Quranic Masoretic exegesis and وشهد شاهد من اهلهاReader comment on item: Jerusalem, Jordan, and the Jews Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Sep 23, 2020 at 08:28 We are told that the Qur'an is a miracle and no one would be able to write anything that is even close to this great literature of Allah. In actual fact the Qur'an is a literary disaster. 'Ali Dashti was murdered in an Ayatollah's Khomeini's jails and he was 83 years old. He was a Shi'a cleric and he wrote a biography of Muhammad: "23 Years" and he was very critical of Islam, Muhammad and the Qur'an This is what he tells us about the Qur'an as a text: " The Qur'an contains sentences which are incomplete and not fully intelligible without the aid of commentaries; foreign words, unfamiliar Arabic words, and words used with other than the normal meaning; adjectives and verbs inflected without observance of the concords of gender and number; illogically and ungrammatically applied pronouns which sometimes have no referent; and predicates which in rhymed passages are often remote from the subjects." In short the Qur'an is a literary disaster. Can you imagine having a law book that is supposed to be good for all places and times that is being described by 'Ali Dashti as a literary disaster? Oh وشهد شاهد من اهلها? This is a famous verse from Surat Yusuf 26: This can be rendered as: And a witness, from her people, has testified. 'Ali Dashit's book is available at amazon.com Last, if a Muslim apologist tells you that the Qur'an is a literary miracle just refer him to 'Ali Dashti's book Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
