Not is not the time for this criticismReader comment on item: Romney Stumbles on Foreign Policy Submitted by Stas (Croatia), Oct 23, 2012 at 02:45 This is not the time for criticizing Romney's foreign policy. Right now he is trying to win an election and he is taking steps to win votes. Saying what he would have liked to correct the record (who here believes that personally Romney would not have welcomed the opportunity to clarify the devastating misstep about Libya that Candy Crowley created in the last debate??) Of course we would all liked to have seen him expose Obama's missteps, challenge him on the Muslim Brotherhood, on the Israel relations, etc. etc. But that was not his goal in this last debate. He can do that later. His job was to present himself as a valid alternative to Obama and not the warmongering reckless hack that he has been attacked for in campaign ads. His job was to invalidate the notions and lies that have been pushed down the throats of swing state voters and show them he is not a monster. Yes, he actually skated to the left of Obama as O tried to appear tough on national sec. That was a calculated chess move. In my opinion, his flexibility is the mark of a good politician. He can be very aggressive when needed and soft when needed. We could argue about the merits of being a good politician as President, but the fact is, its the only way to get to the WH. Those are the facts. Be realistic, folks! We can all worry about what Romney will do foreign policy wise after he is elected President. And then all criticism will be most welcome.
