There is no comparison between unrest in Congo and unrest in Islamic reasonReader comment on item: Romney Stumbles on Foreign Policy Submitted by Prashant (United States), Oct 24, 2012 at 01:55 Dear Dr Pipes: I do not agree with reader MikeKu's statement about cutting our defence budget but I also do not agree with your comparison between the unrest in Congo and Israel-Palestine conflict. Any one who thinks that the conflict between Israel and Palestinian Muslims is a local conflict is very sadly mistaken. The war against Israel is Muslim's most favorite war. The moment this war is resolved (if that day ever comes), the Islamists focus will shift to Kashmir which will then become the favorite war. After that it may be Chechnya, Cypress, Philippines, Bali or London. Followers of most religions (Most Jews, Christians, Hindus, Atheists and Buddhists) have now come to accept that no one's beliefs are so true that they can make or falsify anyone else's beliefs. Only Muslims have not accepted it yet. Muslims are the only ones who have created a worldwide federation that works for the benefit of Muslims and to the detriment of everyone else. And that is why the unrest in Congo is different from every unrest in which Muslims are involved. Perhaps we should not reduce our military budget but we should also not spend it all on bringing freedom and democracy to those who neither want freedom nor democracy. And nothing should be brought to anyone by force. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
