One can find a number of wars/tragedies/massacres that have taken more lives than the Israeli-Palestinian conflict or the Middle East conflicts. However, the Congo, as you mention does not figure into global politics and a global conflict is unlikely no matter how big the slaughter is. In the Middle East we are dealing with a pernicious philosophy which counters most of what the West stands for. Anyone who believes that Islam is a peaceful religion, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I can sell you. The focus of these people whether in Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, Afghanistan, etc. is to bring down Judep-Chrisitian civilization and foist upon us in its place a philosophy which was founded 1400 years ago and has not change and has no flexibility like our Talmud. The Koran is God's word, give me a break, and therefore cannot be reasoned with or changed. That kind of dogmatic philosophy spells disaster; just look at the Arab world; need I say more.
