You mean 'Sally for Romney...'Reader comment on item: Romney Stumbles on Foreign Policy Submitted by sally (United States), Oct 27, 2012 at 18:46 Irvin, You said: We have to stop meeting this way. You are a smart woman and I have very little to quarrel with your views. I am voting for Obama for the reasons I previously stated Why thank you, Irvin. 'Meeting' online is a productive and healthy way to interact, don't you think? Or are you just squirming a little in your seat that you know I am right and you have no good rebuttal...? Voting for Obama because your children are doing so and you defer to them because it is their future sounds really really backwards to me. I still presume to know a little bit more than the average 21 year old, and I hope that they can benefit from my wisdom and insight. Perhaps that's why my children understand and agree, because I make clear and pragmatic arguments rather than cater to their ideological naivete. and if Romney does win the presidency I won't be crushed. California, my home state is a lost cause for Romney and he of course knows it. Well, guess what? I am in NorCal Bay area myself- deepest blue imaginable- but I still believe that every vote counts. Right now O is only ahead by 12 percent in the polls. That's not a lost cause, and if more people thought like me it might become consequential. I don't give up my vote for anyone and I encourage everyone to do the same. There is no reason to give up and give over control to people who have no idea what is going on beyond headlines by a biased press and comedy shows. And by the way, how could it be ok to live in an area that screeches about tolerance yet any R supporters would be vandalized or worse if they dared show it? Is that ok to teach kids? My children have their own agenda and they want Obama, they have cited many reasons why Romney can't be trusted Democrat talking points and scaremongering. I regularly speak with young women on FB who are convinced that their very bodies will be appropriated by Romney if he wins. O just said the other day that R wants to overturn Roe V Wade, as if that should scare all women. Women in reality, being equal beings, are just as concerned about the economy and national security. O is condescending in his treatment of women as one issue voters (which is a bunch of bull anyway) and the facts speak for themselves- try looking for yourself, or task your kids, to find out the numbers of women employed by R vs O and the satisfaction levels, tell-all's later revealed. The truth is out there beyond the talking points. I guess that your kids feel more strongly than you do, which is understandable but still wrong. and I don't have the kind of influence over them that you apparently have over your children. What is remarkable is that your Jewish family are all Republicans. That doesn't happen in California or New York for that matter and particularly amongst the young people. Like I said, I have no influence at all, I just express my views, do my research and stand by my principles. It works wonders. They are both secure in their identities and my whole side of the family have become repubs due to the dems abandonement of Israel since 911. I speak for my half of the family, not my ex's... :) It is worth keeping the dialogue and conversation going and it sets a good example, don't you think?
