The Third DebateReader comment on item: Romney Stumbles on Foreign Policy Submitted by Michael F. Kiely (United States), Oct 25, 2012 at 14:39 Like Dr. Pipes, I am a supporter of Mitt Romney for President and, again like Dr. Pipes, I was disappointed by Mr. Romney's performance in the third debate, especially when the topic was the Middle East. What I found disturbing was that Mr. Romney did not challenge President Obama on his unconstitutional use of our military in Libya. The President committed American military forces against a country we were not at war with, and he committed them in a conflict where we had no immediate national security interest. The President made no attempt to secure a declaration of war from Congress or even avail himself of the War Powers Act. Instead, he just used the American military as if it was his private toy and he was a king or emperor who answered to no one. There are many appalling aspects to Barack Obama's actions in Libya, but his unconstitutional use of force there is right at the top, even though Mitt Romney didn't even nod in that direction.
