I'm glad I read the last paragraphReader comment on item: Islamism with a Human Face? Submitted by john w mcginley (United States), May 21, 2014 at 09:28 Yes indeed: I'm glad I persevered to read the last paragraph. For most of the article I was thinking that Daniel Pipes had gone "soft." If and when Daniel Pipes goes "soft" then we can all give up: drink a lot of beer, get as much "action" as possible; and await for a horrible "End of Days." In fact your review was, in the final analysis, quite sober. Your ability to recognize some "progress" towards sanity in Islamism and at the same time insisting that we keep our powder dry is exactly the right balance. "Wait and See." However there was one nodal point in you analysis which was weak. You did recognize some "loosening" in the leadership of Iran. Good. It should be noted. But the powers in Iran are the most volatile and most likely to cross the line into insanity. Iran's negotiating team is playing us for fools. It is clear that the real powers in Iran are hell-bent to acquire nuclear capability. We ought not bet that that a strong Repulican President will take over the Ship of State. First of all, such a Republican President, will still be "wet behind the ears" and most likely will stumble. Even worse would be if Iran goes nuclear while President Dithering is still in office. The odds are that Iran would gain nuclear capacity while President Dithering is still in office. What would Israel do?. Without those "bunker buster" bombs ((The USA have them but it is unlikely that President Dithering will make these bombs available to Israel)) Israel will be face with either going nuclear against Iran or doing nothing. Doing nothing would be the worse option. I would appreciate it if you devoted a column on this imbroglio going on between Israel, Iran, and the Dithering President.
