RESPONSE TO ISLAMISM WITH A HUMAN FACEReader comment on item: Islamism with a Human Face? Submitted by Ameer Labeeb Hassan (United States), Jun 19, 2014 at 16:38 I think that when you look at the objective of ISIS, i.e., the establishment of an Islamic Caliphate, you can see the 7th Century mentality of the insurgents. This is why I believe it is difficult to find Muslims with a modern train of thought. Alawi of Iraq was educated in the U.S. He is more of an exception than the rule. So in order to establish the free democratic ideal in Iraq, it will take EDUCATION for the civil population to gain a proper understanding of the modern world. There also has to be EDUCATION and OPPORTUNITY for women. A nation can rise no higher than its women. This is why you can find the suppression of women in most poor nations. Islamism, as you refer to it, is a movement of backward thinking men who have no significant contribution to make to the modern world.
