No 'Palestinian' ReservationsReader comment on item: Islamism with a Human Face? Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Jun 10, 2014 at 15:42 Dr. Pipes correctly observes that the premise of the 'reservation' analogy has limited, if any, usefulness in trying to develop a modern sense of the 'Palestinian' enigma in the struggle for recognition of identity in the Middle Eastern central conflict. The only proximal simile that might be attempted is that in the same way indigenous Native Americans are called Indians, in spite of their names in their own native tribal tongues (i.e. Chumash, Ogallala, Lakota, etc., etc.), the 'Palestinians' cling to that appellation for the various tribal subsets that comprise the Arab ethnic composite society which have competing claims in the region, which obscure the real dialogue: whose claim, the Israeli's or the 'Palestinians,' will be determined legitimate by which name. Since the legal issue cannot be resolved amicably by all the parties involved due to prejudicial aspirations of those claiming the desire to destroy the Jewish claim by force and the Israelis are being backed into corner by international pressures sympathetic to the 'Palestinians,' see if anyone can guess what that result is going to be. There will be no reservations, except to guarantee a place of consequences to those who do not recognize Israel's rights to the ancient homeland. The recent failure of the American Administrative Chief Executive and interested parties to impose yet another partition solution serves notice once again that the international community cannot bring any workable solution that will recognize Israel's right of sovereign control over Israeli land and expect the competing Ishmaelite interests to concede the point. Thus, the competing 'Palestinian's' interests united to present a combined front that the international community might have a better chance of endorsing, now that the head of the Roman Church is on track to provide support as well.
