"Indian Reservation(s)" for PalestinansReader comment on item: Islamism with a Human Face? Submitted by Ludvikus (United States), Jun 5, 2014 at 12:07 Dear Daniel Pipes, I appreciate your repeated emphasis on Strategy, vs. Advocacy, in your forum, but I cannot make the distinction clear in my own view of America's interests vis-a-vis the Middle East. Regarding the claim of Israelis Apartheid, which has its roots in African history, I recommend that we consider our American history in the relation to "Native Americans." There are in the USA currently 550 federally recognized "Indian" tribes 310 Indian Reservations managed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs which is subject to the jurisdiction of the federal Department of the Interior. Now it is common knowledge that "Palestinians" want a state of their own (in the long run, Including Israel, of course, that's why they refuse to recognize Israel as the national state of the "Jewish" people, - but that's another story). Therefore, Gaza may not be a Palestinian Reservation, but some sort of quasi-sovereign Palestinian state under Egyptian dependency). However, it seems to me that de facto, as opposed to de jure) there should be Palestinian "Reservations" in the West Bank (Jusea and Samaria, if one prefer's). Wikipedia gives these facts about our own (American) Indian Reservations: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_reservation I propose, strategically, that Israel establish now, unilaterially, Palestinian Reservations in the West Bank that should function under the new Hamas-PLO 'technocratic government." The most touchy question leaves the status of Jerusalem - but Jordan already manages a part of it; is there room for a Palestinian "reservation" within Jerusalem? Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
