1980 [2017] "Close Settlement on the Land" by Eugene V. RostowReader comment on item: How Can Israel Win the Palestinian Conflict? Submitted by Robert (United States), Jan 20, 2023 at 16:59 Dear Dr. Daniel Pipes, I'm rather surprised that the name of US International law on Palestine expert Eugene V. Rostow occurs on your web site 4 times (I just checked) but he is not discussed by you even once. I do not know who, if anyone, among scholars on Israel and the Mandate know more that this man. Here is, reproduced in 2017, the position of scholar Rostow on Israel and its irrevocable right to Close Settlement within all of Mandatory Palestine. His views of 1980 were re-published here: 2017 "Close Settlement on the Land" by Eugene V. Rostow At the time (1980) Rostow affirmed the right of Jews to establish "Close Settlements" throughout Mandatory Palestine (which was left after Transjordan was split off from West Palestine. And at that time Rostow opposed another Palestinian state besides Jordan, on the grounds that it would ultimately destroy Israel. In fact, he supported your partial view, that Jordan assume sovereign responsibility - upon negotiations with Israel - over the remaining Palestinians who are not Israelis citizens. I also wonder what your views on Rostow are? I hope you incorporate his views in your forthcoming book on Israel.
