As far as I understood the Boston bombings were committed by young Chechens who had moved to the US. A group that the US authorities should have paid more attention to - given their 'acheivments ' and long term plans in Russia. These sorts of attacks are now being carred out at the behest of ISIS - who target the delusional who imagine they are helping mohammed to bring about allah's caliphate. When you hear even 'sane' muslims wishing the best for 'mohammed and his family' (with a straight face) - it's not going to take much to get the progeny of hundreds of thousands of first cousin marriages living in the West to take that little step further.

What concerned me during the aftermath of 9/11 was that at least one of the arselifters who flew into the World Trade Center, the leader of the group - had lived in the US for at least a year - and had a chance to acclimatise and experience all the US had to offer. He had a chance to open his mind to see that the US was not a monolithic culture , that people were free (relative to Saudi) and free to think and say as they thought and that there were all shades of grey in a non black and white world.

Yet STILL went ahead with his (or their) evil plan (again, doing it all for mo/allah). Just like the UK born and trained doctor who deliberately rammed Glasgow Airport with a Landrover filled with LPG tanks. This trend of Western educated second generation muslims going into Sudden Jihad Syndrome has been repeated over and over worldwide.

How does such a mindwarping f&^ked up ideology can snare so many diverse people? Worse than Nazism as it spans cultures with even more insidious ideas.

I know the area reasonably well as it's on a backstreet rat run to get towards Leichardt. Sydney is still a fanastic place to live and still >80% European

Lots of suburbs in the inner west and south are still like that. Lots of Italians and Greeks form the backbone of the population in Marrickville and surrounding suburbs. But you will find Vietnamese and Lebanese shops along the main street there now. You can get a cheap meal from virtually any ethnic group in a shop somewhere along Marrickville Rd there now.
