Dr. Pipes, what do you think of this as an approach to dealing with ISIS?Reader comment on item: Siege in Sydney Submitted by Charles Martel (United States), Jan 22, 2015 at 22:37 With each passing day we read of new atrocities being committed by Islamic enthusiasts in ostensible pursuit of their so-called faith. Two weeks ago it was Paris. Several days ago we learned that Japanese nationals are being held for ransom by ISIS. So here, perhaps, is a novel approach to how Japan should respond -- and what every freedom loving entity should consider doing when confronted with hostage ransom demands by these monsters. I suggest that Japan publicly issuing a multi-million dollar bounty to be paid to the person or persons who brings them the heads of the individuals responsible for kidnapping their citizens. Turn the whole project around and make the predatory hunters hunted prey. That approach would completely change the narrative and return some control and opportunity for positive action to those of us on the right side of the line. It might even demotivate ISIS and Boko Haram et al from continuing their pattern of ghastly misdeeds. What I propose is that a bounty be placed on the heads of any and all who join these wicked groups and especially those who engage in barbarity. Right now these people operate out in the open, and with almost complete impunity. This needs to change. There should be a ransom on their heads and they should be hunted across geographical borders and time until they are caught or killed. Those who behead aid workers and murder babies are horrid, dangerous weasels and they ought to be treated precisely like the vermin they are. First step in eradicating them, it seems to me, is to drive them back into the shadows. Push them into a defensive position. No one ever won a war while being stripped of their tactical offensive momentum. We have the capital and wherewithal to do this. We just need those in positions of political power to exercise the willingness to act. Certainly a plan of action offers clear advantages over the serial hand wringing and hang-dawg dhimmi-like cowering we've pretty much perfected. Taking the macroscopic perspective, until a true reformation occurs in the Muslim world, we are going to need to take this Islamic bull by the horns and utilize some medieval tactics of our own. Isn't it time we cease being the only ones in the boxing ring fighting according to the Marques of Queensbury rules. This is a street fight. Let's start defending ourselves accordingly.
