Marshall Plan II - Trump's Palestinian Deal of the CenturyReader comment on item: Why Israelis Shy from Victory Submitted by Robert (United States), Oct 8, 2018 at 14:23 Dear Daniel Pipes, I was hoping you would write an article anticipating what a viable Trump Peace Deal for Israel/Palestine would look like. Since I haven't convinced you to do it, perhaps I might persuade you here? On October 17, 2017, a "Jordan is Palestine Conference" was held in Israel. It was moderated by TED BELLMAN, an Israeli, and its "star" attraction was Mudar Zahran, a British Palestinian Jordanian, who appeared via Skype. Here is the Program description available online: http://www.israelifrontline.com/2017/09/jordan-palestine-conference-2017-many-people-agree.html The controversial part of the program involved the deposition of Jordan's King Abdullah, which apparently is not favored by CAROLINE GLICK because she was contacted by three (3) independent source denying that there is virtually no support for the overthrow of Jordan's monarchy. In addition, a dispute occurred attacking Glick's Palestinian journalist colleague, and Ms. Glick sided with her colleague against Mudar. However, aside from this problematic issue of Regime Change (better the Devil you know than the one you don't), the idea behind the revival of Jordan is Palestine involves the Political possibility of reviving the claims to Citizenship grated to Palestinians by Jordan when Jordan ANNEXED the West Bank and with it the Old City of Jerusalem (aka East Jerusalem). When or if Israel claims Jurisdiction over Samaria and Judea, the allegation of "Apartheid" and lack of Democracy would vanish under the argument that the Palestinian Residents thereof are already Citizens of their Palestinian state, Jordan. The other aspect of the Trump Deal would involve the construction of a City immediately across on the East Side of the Jordan River. Bonafide Palestinian Refugees - those who lost their homes and employment in the 1948-1949 Israeli War of Independence would acquire REPARATIONS as Compensation for their loss in the form of Free Housing. In return, said Palestinians would renounce their so-called RIGHT OF RETURN. The most eloquent conferee (an less controversial) was MARTIN SHERMAN who has advocated for some time for a voluntary relocation of Palestinians out of Oslo Areas A, B, C. This isn't Ethnic Cleansing because Jordan is in fact a part of the Original Palestine Mandate, and the Relocation is to be strictly VOLUNTARY. The Program can begin with the actual Refugees so classified by UNRWA who currently live in the West Bank or Jerusalem. Furthermore, the Economic benefits to financially stressed Jordan would be tremendous *to use a Trump word). In one estimate, the project would require $200 Billion for the contrition of Family Homes, the Land included, and the funding would come from outside Arab, European, and American sources. It is to be noted that Israel has a labor shortage of skilled workers in the new economies, particularly Digital (and in the Fourth Industrial Revolution in which Israel is a Major Player). So the construction of Industrial Parks in Jordan is also doable, economically and geographically speaking. All this is clearly consistent with your Israel Victory Caucus in Washington. What is the "real" theoretical opposition to this Plan" It should be obvious that it isn't the Palestinian People, is merely three (3) Palestinian Tyrants, namely: (1) Mahmoud Abbas, 83-year-old head of the Palestinian Authority in Parts of the West Bank; Trump can, and perhaps will, install his Dream Peace Deal, as a Great Real Estate Economic Project reflecting perhaps what MbS is doing in Saudi Arabia, Sisi in Egypt, Erdogan did in Turkey, and Putin would like to do in Syria. In summary, the Economic Life of Palestinians should be made to improve tremendously, but with a close eye at solving the Right of Return by eliminating it as much as possible, and with the prospect of solving the Two-State Solution by recognizing Jordan as the Other (Palestinian) State. Daniel Pipes replies: "a dispute occurred attacking Glick's Palestinian journalist colleague, and Ms. Glick sided with her colleague against Mudar." That's a delicate way of saying that Zahran permanently discredited himself by attacking the brilliant and brave Khaled Abu Toameh. Reader comments (72) on this item
