"Jordanian enclave, not confederation, in Judea and Samaria" by David SingerReader comment on item: Why Israelis Shy from Victory Submitted by Robert (United States), Oct 11, 2018 at 11:51 Dear Daniel Pipes, I think that Journalist DAVID SINGER is the closest in understanding and anticipating what the Deal Trump will propose in 2 or 3 months after the US mid-term elections. The Palestinian "opposition," consisting of Yahya Sinwar, Mamoud Abbas, and Abdullah II will be unable to reject it because of internal and external Arab weakness. Sinwar primarily will seek calm in order to alleviate the economic and humanitarian plight of Gaza. And in effect,Gaza is already and enclave distinct and separate from Samaria and Judea and Jerusalem. Mamoud Abbas has already rejected all options to be offered by Trump, so that the administration will view him as irrelevant. What we know of Abdullah II's position is that he's been mouthing the same two-state formulas of the Arab League, namely pre-1967 boundary with Jerusalem as its capital. But "the elephant in the room" is "THE RIGHT OF RETURN." Once more, it appears that the JORDAN IS PALESTINE option is back, as far as DAVID SINGER is concerned. That would entail recognizing (not granting) the Citizenship of West Bank Palestinians which they acquired when the West Bank was Occupied by Transjordan (later named Jordan). That would entail seats in the Jordanian legislature, and solve the issue of Political Rights of the Palestinians, while all Civil, or Individual, Rights of Jordanian Citizens living under Israeli Jurisdiction would remain. This would solve the Left's preoccupation with issue of Israel remaining a Democracy. A MARSHALL PLAN FOR PALESTINE/JORDAN may be the ECONOMIC solution to the POLITICAL problem. People generally worry about Food and Shelter before their Love of Country, as amply demonstrated by the flight of Illegal Refugees into the United States and the European Union. But the so-called "2-state solution" appears dead particularly as a consequence of Hamas in Gaza that the weakness of Abbas and his subordinate cohort in the PA and PLO. What Jordan wants appears, therefore irrelevant. And what Israel wants can only be imposed by THE DONALD. In other word's, Donald will do Bibi's "dirty work." I suspect that the most worrisome question is whether the Donald Plan will present non-Israeli Sovereignty upon Oslo Area C, or is it Area A, of Samaria and Judea? I would hope that Sovereignty over the Land simply be avoided in the Plan in its presentation. One way to do that is to restrict the proposal to stretching the scope of Israeli law over some parts of the West Bank, letting Economic Growth under Israel's Umbrella play its hopefully pacifying role. "Jordanian enclave, not confederation, in Judea and Samaria" "This could be the best 'two-state solution' for Trump."
