Mr Curmally, from Pakistan, after comeletly failing to address most of the points in my last response, writes:

You seem to have some difficulty in seeing what is in front of you. What I wrote was: FMG is practiced almost exclusively by northern african muslim societies and in the muslim Middle East.

This is one of the problems with Islam. A man thinks he is learned in the ways of the Koran etc - and makes an interpretation. people follow hi. Others believe totally differently - and disregard his pronouncements - preferring to follow their own understanding instead.

?? Respectful and ill-mannered - because I simply do not hold a fictional view of a 7th century arab? It is your assertion that he was a prophet. The fact is - he's been dead for 1400 years and whatever I or anyone else says about him is therefore not slander or libel. Your insistence that I adopt your perspective is easily countered by what I would call your gross cultural insensitivity. It is very common for Australians to shorten the first names of people in conversation - Thomas becomes simply Tom, 'James' - Jim , William - 'Bill' etc etc. Of course you are free to insist I toe a politically correct line and call him what you'd like me to - but I am free to call him whatever I choose to. And he can be called all sorts of things - with complete justification. But I'm not here to quibble. Just accept that people from other cultures have a totally different perspective on things than you do.

You mean the bit about the widespread (therefore highly popular) practice of Female genital mutilation ? I'm not a muslim - and you're asking me for the reference in one of your own scriptures? OK - Sunan of Abu Dawud (Chapter 1888) : "Um Atiyyat al-Ansariyyah said: A woman used to perform circumcision in Medina. The Prophet (pbuh) said to her: Do not cut too severely as that is better for a woman and more desirable for a husband."

Excellent ! You must be a progressive muslim then - as most muslims, here in the West anyway - are clamouring for recognition and attention in anyway they can. ( I like how in Germany the crowd adopts, almost by osmosis, the German predilection for orderliness. One has to say , in all three clips, the theme and vocabulary is fairly limited isn't it? Not a great deal happening in terms of existential phlosophy and real solutions is there?)

My government has done no such thing. Another instance of you not seeing what is in front of you .

yet your government at the same time has its hand out for massive US aid - and now seeks as much money as it can get to counter the effects of the recent floods. The same government that Musharref recently admitted had sent terrorist groups into Kashmir. I have Afghan muslim friends - and they accuse Pakistan for creating the Talban problem in the first place. why would they say such things of their fellow muslim buddies? I do not give to much credence to your government.

The Coalition forces are there at the request of and with the permission of the Iraqi government. Would you rater they left and let the country fall back into the infighting tribal cesspit it will most likely become?

Do we buy Pakistani oil? That's a new one on me - a that's right - your'e a muslim first - so what Libyan oil is your oil?? In any case - we buy something because we want it. Whatever emotional baggage the sellers have is entirely unrelated to the transaction. And if money is so unimportant to 'you' - why do you sell the oil?

See - you are a progressive muslim! If only there were more like you - who would have the same attitude to our culture - instead of flocking to the West by the millions. Then hypocritically feting islamic culture they have so readily fled - obviously not having found the islamic paradise they seek in their own cultures.
