Yes Susan, Truth Seem to Have Upset YouReader comment on item: Pope Benedict Criticizes Islam [in Regensburg] Submitted by Hamad (Saudi Arabia), Sep 26, 2006 at 20:12 Funny, it seems that my little participation invoked all kinds of prejudices and emotions within you. True Islam is all about Quran, then the teachings of the prophet. Therefore, I am not subject to the teachings of anyone else, not Bin Laden, Khumini, Garathaoui...etc etc. I know that the KKK wasn't practicing Christianity, but they believed they did! Surprise surprise, Bin Laden too believes he's practicing true Islam. And that's my point my dear if you have missed it. I was not incriminating Christianity. I am implying that Christians don't always follow their religion. Did not American troops kill Vietnamese citizens in cold blood? Most of them believed they were fighting for a rightious cause and that god was on their side, that their acts of murder were justified. We Muslims do not want you to come occupying our countries for your interests and in order to give us our leaders' heads. We just ask your goverments not to befriend the tyrants and turn a blind eye to their crimes against their people. In my country, Saudi Arabia, your leaders and mine seem to be very cosy. Reason? As long as our petroleum reach you, your goverment doesn't care if Satan rules this land. I am glad you quoted the Quran, the first sign of objectivity. I can read the Quran without translation thank god, and I have one in my hands right now. It seems you and I use a different kind of citation techniques, so if you will, please give me the Surah's name and the verse number so I can find it. The first verse was God telling people how he destroyed many villages, not as a raid by bloodthirsty Muslims as your translation seem to describe. and He did destroy many villages, even your bible says so. And he tells people, that they should fear the same fate if they keep angering him. Second verse, you do what any opponent of Islam does. You take snippets of a verse from the Quran without giving the whole context. As I recall this verse talks about Quraish warriors who were at war with the Muslims, and tells the profit to wipe them out (in war). But after that it says, and if they recline to peace, you can't kill them anymore. All such verses about war have almost the same ending, always. If only I can locate that verse exactly I can give you the whole sentences. One note, you rely on your own biased western resources. Most historians, including Europeans acknowledge how the crusaders, killed and raped when they took Jerusalem (even Chrisitans with beards were killed assuming they were Muslim or Jews). There are Christian orginizations which tour the Islamic world apologizing for the crusades too. Saladin by contrast, was very generous when he took the city back. The Spanish didn't destroy mosques in Spain? Funny, the largest massacres to Muslims occured in Spain. All kinds of buildings were destroyed. The Spanish only left the nice big buildings because they loved them, but they killed anyone who would pray in them, so what's the point? Let's not put sugar on history and try to be objective. I want to do some quoting from the Qur'an myself. "Fight in the cause of God against those who fight you, but do not transgress limits. God does not love transgressors." [2:190]. "If they seek peace, then seek you peace. And trust in God for He is the One that heareth and knoweth all things. "[8:61] "There shall be no compulsion in religion: the right way is now distinct from the wrong way. Anyone who denounces the devil and believes in GOD has grasped the strongest bond; one that never breaks. GOD is Hearer, Omniscient.". [2:256] "Have patience with what they say, and leaves them with noble (dignity)." [73:10] "Allah is with those who restrain themselves." [16: 128] "And if you punished, let your punishment be proportionate to the wrong that has been done to you; but if you show forgiveness, that is indeed the best course. [16:126] "The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto: but if a person forgets and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah." [62:40] Whoever kills another one without justifiable cause, surely he is killing all of humanity. And whoever saves the life of another one, surely he saves the lives of all of humanity. [Sura Al Ma'aidah: Ayah 32] "And the servants of Allah . . . are those who walked on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say 'Peace'" [25:63] Peace, Salam Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
