Has anyone been scammed by a Moroccan this way?Reader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men Submitted by ct (United States), Jun 19, 2008 at 01:08 I believe I am the stupidest woman in the US...I am an older woman who fell in love with a younger man from Morocco. I met him in person and fell in love with him. We talked for nearly 2 years almost everyday (sometimes two or three times a day) online and on the phone. I made 5 trips there total. I got engaged and met all his family and friends. They treated me wonderfully. They were all poor of course and I lavished them with gifts and money as much as I could. My fiancee was "wonderful to me". He told me constantly how much he loved me and couldn't wait to spoil me and take care of me when he got a job, here in the US. I filed the paperwork for the Fiancee Visa...but then the drama started... He got sick, his dad was sick, his dad was dying, his dad got better, his mom was dying, his mom got better, his dad died, his mom was distraught, he had a toothache, etc. He had a police record and did jail time for a crime he did not commit, it was a case of mistaken identity. He wanted to clear his record for the visa, he needed bribe money to do that, he knew people that could help him, and the list goes on and on...If I hadn't been there to see corruption first hand, I never would have believed all these stories he told me. But...I loved him and he insisted he was telling me the truth...he told me he had a bad luck and bad stuff was always happening to him...I wanted to get him out of that place...He told me he was not muslim and didn't fit in there...He basically told me everything I wanted to hear for a happy life with him in the US...I believed him wholeheartedly... He never really came out and asked for money directly...But he was a wonderful story teller and I willingly forked over ridiculous amounts of money over time. Well, the time was nearing for his interview at the Consulate...He went for his interview date but didn't have his police record with him and they said he could bring it back at a later interview appointment...He said the man at the Consulate was so nice and wished him good luck... Then he said that it would take 2 to 3 months to get his visa now...That to me seemed a ridiculous amount of time...so I called my US Representative here in the US to help me find out what was going on in Morocco. I went back to Morocco to visit him in his homeland one more time before he was to come back here with me so we could tie up loose ends and say goodbye to his family...I even made arrangements to bring his pet cat back with me to the US. Imagine my shock when my State Representatives office called me to tell me...he hadn't ever showed up for his first appointment at the Consulate and that they didn't have his passport either...I confronted him and he insisted he did go there twice....I was instructed to tell him to get a receipt from the consulate for his visits... I went home and he went back to the Consulate, supposedly & got the receipt...then after I got home...he had one crisis after another....3 hospital visits, a robbery and a beating by the robbers...and never once could he find a computer with a cam to show me the receipt....Well, I am sure you can all see the writing on the wall, clear as day but I couldn't.... I was so blinded by love that I had the rug pulled out from under me and it knocked the wind right out of me...guess what... he lied to me...he must have known that his police record made it so he could not leave the country and he played with my emotions and affection and milked me dry and made me think he would be coming soon on his visa. I wouldn't feel so bad for being scammed if I hadn't gone there or been with him 5 different times but I was totally led astray...He fooled me. But...now that the blinders are off...I see that I was dealing with a Sociopath and an excellent one at that. He was an excellent liar and demostrated complete devotion and responsibility to me. My greatest comfort now is that I saw his true colors before he came here to the US & I married him... So I guess to wrap this up...Please be careful with these Moroccan men...They are charming...They paint such a bleak picture of life in their country with no hope and they are desperate and will do any and everything for money and prey upon your emotions and good nature. The nicer you are, the more they will deceive you. Please let me know if anyone else has fallen victim to such a brilliant scheme as this. Thanks! P.S. If anyone is thinking of doing a Fiancee Visa with a Moroccan...Please get a translated copy of their Police Record first...It could save you a lot of heartache and a lot of money!!
