That's good newsReader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men Submitted by Straight_Talk_Luigi (United States), Jul 2, 2008 at 23:07 that you are staying, Zella. I did want to remark though about why Western women get used. Sometimes, they are just too trusting. I know you've read some of Angie's posts, and my initial impression is that she gets a kick out of it. All I can say is that's pretty sad. The myspace woman I frequently reference was like this, and so were many of her friends. Whatever happened on myspace or facebook was so terribly important, it was absurd. I mean, the time wasted by people who should have been studying or taking care of kids was all spent messing around on there. One of her on-line friends was supposedly raped three times by a guy from France who staying in the country, yet BOTH women considered the rapist a best friend because he was"drunk" while he did it. I mean, is this called being owned or what? And you want to know what's really ironic? She kept on telling me how independent she was. Yet, all the guys she talked to saw her weakness. It was like she was a cut seal in the wake of sharks. This is why men who want sex bad chase after divorcees. It's unwritten rule among men that they are desperate in so many cases. I don't knew if she it, but she wanted it. She liked the drama. Why? Who knows? Probably saw it on TV or in a movie and thought "gee, that looks like fun. Let's see, sex and adultery with no consequences. How quaint. What a life to live full of EMOTION." It's ridiculous, but the internet especially, that's like a drug for some people, it's not just videogames that the media talks about or the silent addiction so many have to porn, it's talking to people on-line. Yeah, it's an addiction too, and more costly than paying a fee every month to a site for membership. You also mentioned something along the lines suicide. Suicide is a leading cause of death in the USA and Japan. I know in Japan that over 33,000 people commit suicide each year. This is a consequence of a liberal, progressive society. People aren't happy, and material things or the cold, hard surface of a computer screen or an ipod won't bring it. Another mistake made by my woman. Sad thing is, Zella, I thought I could save her. But I had no chance. See, she had created a life that she was comfortable with over the internet, because in that environment, she had control. I know this because when I didn't talk to her for three days, she would call constantly. On day three, she called me 8 eight times in about two hours. She wasn't in control and didn't know what to do. The internet has a reputation of expanding the horizons of communication, but what it's done for people like my myspace woman is make them into introverts who live and die by the quality of radio signals. It was so bad in her case that I never even seriously thought she'd meet up with some guy from her school, but the GREATER threat was that someone who lived an hour away on the other end of myspace would be the problem. Sure enough, it was. Oh, I was able to hold back the storm with lots of gifts, shopping trips and false flattery, but in the end the result was the same. It always is, because people just don't like change. Even in this post-modern progressive era. A lot of people who do advocate for change really don't believe in it at heart, I think.
What's easy to is accept the internet's shortcomings and see what you want to see in someone else. Real communication takes effort, and the internet just whisks that away.
