Lisa, Faith Freedom dot org is a highly regognized site that many apostates have contributed to about leaving islam. The articles on the koran, Mohamed, and his life are very informative.

Also women are not treated like animals....They have many rights in Islam and I personally know several Muslim ladies here in the USA in my hometown that is proud to be a Muslim..we also have Mosque here in my city as well....we have Moroccans owning and operating convienience stores, etc....They are good people.....you can't hold all Muslims accountable for what happened to this lady while she was in iran now can we?

I am not so ignorant as to paint all people with the same brush. Believe me, as a Canadian, I have my fair share if issues with the US foreign policies, imperialism, etc. I am in no way holding the USA up as the light of the world. Further, I too have who I consider three very dear people in my life who follow Islam. Two are educated women. One is from Pakistan, and one is from Jordan. The man who i consider a friend is someone who I work with. He too is Pakistani. All of these people are terrific. They are interesting, educated, and love Allah. I respect their choices. However, as a westerner, raised Christian, are you truly aware of what you are saying when you say that you are going to convert? Allah, and the deity that we call God are NOT the same God. Allah may mean "God", but we do not worship the same deity. That is the first mistake that people make.

I will give you an example of the idiocy that many uneducated Moroccans say. In speaking with a friend of my ex Moroccan man, we were talking about the situation in Gaza. He was spilling filth about the Jews and Israelis. I asked him why he hates the Jews and he said, because they hate us. "you know why they hate us?" I asked why. He said, "Because they are waiting for the messiah and they think he will be Jewish. They are mad at us because Mohamed is Arab and he came to us. "

Lisa, I'm the type of person where I bellieve that God reveals Himself to people in a way that they can understand Him. I in no way disrespect people for their beliefs. That is the beauty of living in a free country. i have the ability to criticize, to think, to compare religions, to question my own religion, and to disagree with my priest. Muslims DO NOT have this option, for if they question or leave their faith, they can be killed as apostates. People who have left their muslim faith can't even tell their parents about this.

The man I was talking to is so brainwashed that he thinks that islam is the only way to God and that no christians or jews on this planet... only muslims will go to Paradise. Are you prepared to believe this as well? That your children will go to hell because of their Christian beliefs? He says, "islam is the greatest religion because Mohamed says it is and Mohamed does not lie." "All the people in the west are converting to islam. If it was not true religion, no one would convert. Mike Tyson, the boxer, he convert,." When I asked him about the Muslim scholar who converted to Catholicism at Easter Mass at the Vatican, he scoffed and said, "He will be killed for leaving Mohamed".

Really Lisa, think about it. It's all romantic as in islam, the men are supposed to take care of the women, much like it was in the West in eras gone by. That is why I was attracted to the culture and the religion, but my research has shown me the reality. For example, the inheritance laws: Why is it that when a woman is married to a man, and he dies, that her sons get more of the inheritance than she does? The boys are supposed to take care of their mother, but the reality is that women are left in poverty more times than not. Everything that they have built up goes to the sons before it goes to the mother.

Another example, is woman as a witness. Did you know that it takes two women's statements to equal one man's statement? For your marriage you will either need as witnesses, two men, or one man and two women, or 4 women? Why does this "beautiful religion" de-value the word or women? Another one is covering: if a woman is so darned tempting to the man, why doesn't he put blinders on? Why does the woman have to pay for the man's inability to control himself? They are very close minded, and look at infidels with pity and disdain because we are the "unenlightened". Do you really want to judge your children this way? Do you truly believe they will go to hell for being christians? Just because "Allah" is translated as "god" does not mean that it is the same God that you and I believe in.

And, PS... Morocco is not so Liberal. You can still be inprisoned for having pre or extramarital sex. That is why you and your man did not take a hotel room. The workers would have to reported you, that is why all the western women rent houses with their men.. its safer and people can be bribed. If someone were to report you, you could have been imprisoned. Bribery is common place, the good jobs in the government are reserved for family members, and their education system is third rate. God forbid if you dare to question Islam in "Liberal" Morocco. Wait, lets try an experiment. The next time you're there, stand on a street corner with a sign that says, "I think islam is a crock of sh!t , and Mohamed was a pedophile. " Let's see how "liberal" morocco is. Despite what you may think, I would be free to stand on any corner in Canada with a sign that said, "I think christianity is a crock and Jesus was married to a prostitute and had several children with her", while spitting on the Canadian flag and the holy bible, and NOTHING would happen to me. I doubt very much that I could say the same in "Liberal" Morocco.

Lisa, letting your love for a man cloud your judgement is never a good thing. What is the harm in bringing him to the USA as your fiance? Why the rush to marriage? At least it would buy you some time to get to know him better in real life.
