Keira, I had not come here for over a week, but was having a very bad day yesterday, so decided to see if anything new had been posted here. I'm glad I did. It is beyond sad what these men do to women, Western or otherwise. The further away I get from that situation, the more I am aghast at what was going on. These men truly manipulate and brainwash. I was such a happy, independent woman when I met my husband, and he acted like he admired this about me. At the end, I was miserable and thought I couldn't live without him. I don't know how I managed to finally say "enough," but I'm glad I did. Of course, I'm sure he wasn't happy about this. TOO BAD. He had so many opportunities to pull his head out of his rear end, but he could never lower himself to actually be a decent man. I think back to some of the last things I said to him, laugh to myself at how surprised and angry he must have been, and give myself a mental pat on the back. ;)

Could you tell me where Laura's original post is? You mention that you responded to her elsewhere, so I'm guessing that's where it is. Reading other women's posts here makes me very sad, but at the same time, it reaffirms that what happened was not my doing, and not my fault. We get sucked into these situations, basically just from being in the wrong place at the wrong time. We certainly cannot be faulted for wanting to love and be loved, and not suspecting that someone who initially acts so wonderful would have ulterior motives. I really hope that those of us posting here are able to help someone avoid, or get out of, one of these relationships. Thank you again for all of your support. <3
