You story is very sad but there is very little you can do.

Just back off and resist the temptation to interfere. Let your daughter know that you are there, should she need to talk. She will only learn from HER mistakes and believe me, it will come to that.

It will be difficult for you to do "tough love" but you must. Just keep yourself occupied. Travel, start reading,visit sick children in hospitals (very sobering experience), start a hobby like pottery, gardening, dancing, anything to keep you occupied. Whatever you do, do not get mad or let her know that you are. Use reverse psychology and stick to it. The moment you start accepting the rat husband, she will want to do the opposite. Try it and good luck.
