...What about the threat to Islam?Reader comment on item: What is Jihad? Submitted by Saad K (Canada), Apr 9, 2006 at 19:40 You talk about the threat to the west i.e., the muslim immigrants moving to the western countries and still not being part of the western culture? Well, if you are in the west, you should know the western countries offer freedom of religion, freedom of speech in the first place that's why they move there so they could escape fanatics from their homelands.A good example would be in this case, the iranians who fled from Khomeini. In general, if you look at those iranians, they are more western than the western people in the west. What makes a western western? There is no east and west in today's world. Today's world is divided into secularism and democratism. Now, secularization means "the detachment of a state or other body from religious foundations. A controversial process both in Christian and in Islamic states." According to this standard, the politics of secularization have been violent in countries like Iran, during the overthrow of Shah's government in 1979 and serious civil order in Egypt. If you ever happen to know much about Islamic politics, there is no separation of religion and politics in Islam: Islam din wa dawla (Islam is religion and state). Nearly all of the muslim countries are either ruled by corrupt politicians (who know nothing about Islam) or they are puppets of the New World Order regime (or anything relevant to that idea). Let us look at the way the current western politics was separated from the church. Particularly it was done so deliberately so that the corrupt politicians would be able to take over the financial means and create weapons of mass destructions to terrorize the masses. The early Christians were pacifist and practiced absention from politics. How the heck then the western society got so entangled with "isolationism'? The Roman empire, once converted to Christianity, had to reconcile the pacifist teaching of Christ with the demands of politics, power, and war. Later on the famous philosopher Thomas Aquinas distinguished between just and unjust war using two sets of criteria, the justice of the cause and the justice of the conduct. These two elements have continued to date. In the twentieth century, just cause has narrowed to self-defence against aggression and helping the victims of aggression. Now, in order to create aggression, especially in a powerful state as U.S., you need internal attacks on civilians rather than state-oriented attacks on the country which are almost impossible since U.S. is the military genius. You can see, how anyone could merely bomb a bus or a building and run away and latern on the blame goes on to the muslims. How easy has this become nowadays? Now what i am trying to emphasize here is that it is not "Jihad" but it is the way politics is being used today to create havoc among the masses; to scare the people by showing more and more deaths on TV and merely calling it Islamic activists. How the heck can you call those people muslims? All of the mass media is trying to spoon-feed the masses...especially the westerners that are inevitable to moral degradation. The western governments are using the very old saying that goes like: "If society can go wrong, it will go wrong." People in the west are vulnerable to these plots. It is because most of them don't even give a damn about the history of violence and the history of terrorism. It is commonly asserted that "terrorism is the weapon of the weak"..meaning acts such as bus bombings and airplane hijackings are the only violent means available to non-state actors lacking the resources and organized state military. However, history proves to be otherwise; we see that terrorism has often been used by militarily powerful states, rather than weak non-state actors. For example, in 1981, the U.S. initiated an act of aggression against the socialist Sandinista government of Nicaragua. The instrument of this aggression was a mercenary army, called the Contras, trained, funded, and supplied by the U.S. Over the next 5 years, the Contras, working from their bases in Honduras, killed and tortured more than 11,000 Nicaraguan PEASANTS and VILLAGERS. Now according to the definition of Jihad, those peasants and villagers could be taken as Jihadis.
